Our supporter base is more than 3,000 strong and counting; WiTWA operates as a mission-driven not for profit network under the governance of a highly experienced group of women who are veritable champions for diversity and equality for women in tech [+] in WA.
What we believe
IF YOU CAN SEE HER, YOU CAN BE HER!
We focus on inspiring and enabling local women and young girls to see what is possible when boundaries are pushed, biases suspended and we arm ourselves with tools and resources to find success and opportunity.
Our mission
EXPAND our reach
BROADEN our impact
AMPLIFY positive change
As a support, training and education network for women and girls in new, existing and emerging careers, WiTWA aims to increase diversity and equality in tech [+] roles and organisations across Western Australia.
Our motivation
While the gender and diversity imbalance in Australia is no secret, disappointingly Western Australia ranks the lowest across Australia in terms of gender pay parity, diversity and equity, it’s a no brainer.
WiTWA champions tech [+] as a path to viable, future focused and stimulating careers for women and young girls; we support them in that pursuit.
WiTWA provides networking and development opportunities and a variety of events to facilitate dialogue and awareness about women in technology, STEM and innovation, check them out here.
Our journey
Established in 1998, WiTWA was started to form a network to support women who found themselves in heavily male-dominated industries. First incorporated as ‘Women in IT WA’ in 2005, we re-branded to ‘‘Women in Technology WA’ in 2010 and added the [+] in 2019 to acknowledge the range of backgrounds in our organisation – we are not just limited to tech!
Our supporter base is more than 3,000 strong and counting; WiTWA operates as a mission-driven not for profit network under the governance of a highly experienced group of women who are veritable champions for diversity and equality for women in tech [+] in Western Australia.
We promote our motto by highlighting the amazing work done by women throughout all industries in the tech [+] space. We do this through our Role Models page, annual WiTWA Tech [+] Awards and any other ways we can think of.
What does tech [+] mean?
We started using the term tech [+] because being diverse means Women in Tech WA support and develop women and young people in technology, science and innovation, as well as welcoming those who identify outside of these industries. We are gender inclusive and encourage membership from anyone who supports and champions our cause. We celebrate and support women who are all about tech [+] and we aim to encourage those who aspire to all things tech [+].
