About Alison Barnes

With a demonstrated ability to dive deep into new technologies, Alison presented an articulate business case for the purchase of a robotic system after only 3 days on the job! She quickly came up to speed with robotic control software and hardware systems and led a team of Woodside staff on an intensive course at the Johnson Space Centre as part of their collaboration with NASA.

In her current role as Head of Robotics, Alison leads Woodside internal trials of robotic equipment on operational sites and Woodside’s external collaboration partnerships with local WA Universities, NASA, University of Texas, CSIRO, University of Queensland, and Clearpath Robotics amongst others.

Her robot has already been deployed to handle hazardous situations on a mine site. She is passionate about STEM careers and regularly host kids in the robotics lab. She developed and deployed activity sheets for school kids to try to solve a real business problems using robotic solutions. Alison is a community volunteer at Ronald McDonald House Charities, and an Emerging Leader in Philanthropy team member for Perth Children’s Hospital Foundation in Perth.
