As a woman in Cyber-Security, Cairo has always been keenly aware that her industry lacks diversity. With only 10% females in her field, she has worked hard to not only make her own way, but to help other women to do the same. In her role as acting WA Chapter Lead for the Australian Women in Security Network (AWSN) Cairo not only organises numerous AWSN events but also promotes other welcoming and inclusive events to help connect and develop Perth women working or interested in Cyber-Security. She actively encourages and assists women looking to break into the field by sharing advice along with her knowledge and experience. Cairo volunteers her time to speak at various events (including DDD and ECU’s Digiweek for students) to educate and encourage the wider community to consider a career in cyber-security.
