About Laura Kuhar

Laura is a research team leader by day and works towards a vision of the “invisible mine” with her research into in-situ recovery technology. This keyhole-mining technique, involves injecting liquid underground for value-metal dissolution and its recovery at the surface for processing.

Once the kids are in bed, Laura creates fun ways to communicate and engage people in science: between school science clubs, talking to high-school students about STEM careers, mentoring university students, and presenting at public science events, she has also started a micro-business, Upsy & Moo: Science kits for kids.

Laura is a chemical engineer with a PhD in chemistry. She is one of Science and Technology Australia’s 60 Superstars of STEM, and is an award-winning science communicator.
