About Pauline Charman

Make it real and make it fun’ is the motto of Pauline Charman who has passionately inspired secondary science students in WA for 30+ years. As teacher, administrator, state curriculum officer and educational consultant, Pauline always advocated that our students, teachers deserved to learn about the importance of biotechnology and the latest genetic discoveries. After a 15 year crusade, with self-funded travel to 4 continents to identify “best practice’ centres, her dream was realised when she was asked to establish the Lotterywest BioDiscovery Centre housed in the Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research. Pauline’s custom designed, curriculum linked programs and activities presented daily by dynamic young researchers in an authentic laboratory continue to attract visitors from all around the state.
