About Rina Fu

Rina completed her doctoral fieldwork in PNG, examining malaria drug resistance. She was awarded the WA Department of Health New Investigator Award, inaugural Barry Marshall Travel Award, and Medical Research Foundation Publication and Early Career Medical Researcher Awards. For her PhD, Rina received the prestigious John Frederick Adrian Sprent Medal from the Australian Society for Parasitology and has been recognised for teaching innovation with the Faculty Teaching Excellence and Innovation Award at Curtin University (2016) and Vice Chancellor’s Award for Teaching and Learning at Edith Cowan University (2018). She was a WA finalist at FameLab 2019 and shares per passion for science through mentoring students, and edutaining and engaging children. Her self-illustrated, science storybook is called “My Mad Scientist Mummy”.
