Yuliya Karpievitch

Yuliya is one of the few women who works in the challenging multidisciplinary filed of biotechnology, where she develops a variety of computational methods to identify genes, metabolites and proteins relevant to preventing Asthma and slowing down progression of Cystic Fibrosis in young children. Asthma is the number one growing childhood disease in developed countries and Cystic Fibrosis is a progressive degenerative lung disease that starts at birth. Yuliya is passionate about her work and applies cutting-edge technologies from multiple fields, such as statistics, image analysis, machine learning, and artificial intelligence to improve our understanding of the diseases and helps in developing preventative methods for the affected children. Yuliya also teaches Artificial Intelligence and Complexity Science at the UWA.
